To travel to Russia, most foreign nationals are required to have an Entry Visa to Russia. Russian visas can be obtained at local Russian Embassy or Consulate. The document gives permission to enter and leave the country. If you lose it or exceed the stay duration you can have difficulties upon departure.
In order to get a Russian visa, the first thing you need is an invitation (also known as visa support letter). After that, you can apply for the visa at a Russian consulate either by yourself or through a local travel agent (usually for an extra fee).
Period of stay: 1 to 30 days
Entries: Single- or Double entry
To obtain Russian entry tourist visa, the following documents should be presented to Russian consulates:
According to the Russian legislation a foreign citizen must be Migratory registered within 24 hours if he/she stays at the hotel in the territory of the Russian Federation. During check-in in the hotel you must submit your passport with the valid visa and your migration card (distributed aboard an aircraft or train or at the passport-control department of the airport or railway station) to the reception.
Please keep in mind that an authorised Russian agent does not issue visas by itself. Russian visas are issued by Russian consulates in your home country, based on an invitation from an authorised Russian agent.
